Apologies time flies, well with me it does and I have stretched my self in many directions since i last posted and now hope to continue. But i say hope, for I get sidetracked caught up in my art or writing and wow! before you know it everythings has gone out the window, sometimes literally.
This blog is likely to change to all the things i do that involve paper.
Since i last posted I have been writing, a novel virtually written which will then need editing, because i know there are parts that are all over the place, It has an odd twist, and i kind of like it so i hope i´ll stay with it, and of course theres paper. I print off a part that I'm not sure about and write on it ,draw on it,spill tea on it and then its retyped onto my Mac. Thats something else thats changed since I last posted,I changed completely over to Apple. iPhone, iPad, desktop Mac, and Macbook Air. I liked the idea of the connectivity of their system.  Always was an Asus person before and have no complaints about them. So lets see how the pieces of paper work out, watch this space.

Hot Dogs

Although I studied Fine Arts I am really a 2D artist, but  now and again temptation creeps up and shouts 3D! Now I have tried my hand at  pottery, sculture etc but I find them too longwinded for me. But I greatly respect those that do. Anyway I decided to have a go at the old papier mache, little bits of paper stuck together. Well it may have been like that when we were at school but its become quite sophisticated these days. I have seen some wonderful pieces during my explorations and I got hooked. I actually have made many pieces now and mess around with recipes and techniques.
My first piece was Henry, above. and I started off by building a frame. henry is actually all paper apart from the body frame, which is a coke bottle (plastic) but the head, tail and leg frames were made from screwed up paper and masking tape.

Here you can see how once the frame was made the paper was added piece by piece, allowing layers to dry between time
Henry was fairly simple to make, and others must find it a good starting point because I have seen loads. I gave him 2 coats of acrylic paint before varnishing him. The top photo shows the finished piece, sizewize its the same as a real minature dachshund. I will be posting information on recipes etc, so please come back. who knows you may become hooked too.

Paper & Life

I had a funny thought, paper really is an important part of life (sorry Trees) Its everywhere from  books to the bathroom! and it is a very useful commodity. This blog will mainly deal with paper and papier mache, and anything else that happens to find it way on these pages. I use paper all the time toilet paper, kitchen Paper, scrap paper, writing paper.little tiny pieces and much more.  so I am off to prepare the next posting. So if you have found this site by accident please call back and take a look.
